Hello! I'm Mel, Wedding Planner and Owner of Mel Montoya Weddings.
I have been planning events in Southern California for over 15 years. I am also an award winning custom wedding and event stationery designer.
My specialty is wedding coordination. I focus on logistics, checklists & details. The truth is... things will go wrong on your wedding day. That is where I come in. I am a problem solver. I am a fixer. My goal is to prevent issues on the wedding day with preparation. I work hard to earn your trust so that you are able to let go and enjoy every second of your day. Peace of mind is priceless!
I experience an overwhelming sense of joy at the end of each wedding when the cake has been cut and everyone is dancing the night away. Over 500 weddings and I still shed a tear at each one. I thank my lucky stars that I am surrounded by such happy people who are celebrating.. weddings, babies, love and life! It doesn't get any better than this.
My father served for the US Navy and while we moved around a bit, I spent most of my childhood here in San Diego. I stuck around for college and graduated from UCSD with a BS in Management Science. I'm happily married with 2 amazing children and we live just a few miles from the beach in the beautiful town of Carlsbad. Life is good!
